Home

My name is Nathan Moore and I was born in Marshall, Michigan, but North Carolina has always been my home. My family moved to Raleigh when I was three, and I have enjoyed all North Carolina has to offer. I have one sister, a dog, and a mean cat. Most of my family is from North Carolina, so it was inevitable that my voice would get a southern draw.

Univeristy of North Carolina at Charlotte

I transferred to UNCC from Appalachian State University before the Fall Semester of 2014. I am enjoying UNCC and the city definitely fits my personality. One of the advantages of transferring to UNCC is that my English teacher cares about the style of my writing and is helping me get better at my personal style.

This is a picture of me and my sister when we were really young. First of all, I like this picture because I look good. Secondly, I like this picture because my sister is one of my best friends.

MIDTERM REFLECTION

Since the start of the semester, I have been using this UWRT class to make many connections to other classes. My Philosophy and Ethics class require a lot of writing, so I have incorporated lots of the knowledge I have learned in UWRT 1102 to better my papers. I started focusing on my ethos, pathos, and logos in my writing and it definitely made my arguments stronger in my Philosophy and Ethics essays. My writing process involves lots of preparation. I always start with an outline to gather my thoughts and arguments. This process is extremely different than my writing process in previous English classes. Normally, I would jump write into writing without any research or preparation. This made writing a long venture to complete, but now I am able to write efficiently with quality content with my preparation process. My writing process has also included relaxed tones, but I hope to evolve this method throughout the duration of the class. I want my writing process to become more professional, so that it will complement my future career in banking. Honestly, I feel like I am exceeding my general semester goals. I am putting in loads of effort and am gaining a lot of knowledge from the class. This is the first English class that I am excited to go to and learn. English has always been my least favorite subject, but I am really enjoying this class because it has made writing easier for me. In previous classes, I would do the bare minimum for blog posts, but I have been going above and beyond in the blog posts in this UWRT class. I always exceed the word count and spend plenty of time researching what I want to write. I have never been one to revise papers, but the feedback I receive from my peers and instructor make me want to enhance my writing. My peers do a good job at helping me improve my argument and Professor Rand does a great job at facilitating the organization in my writing. Plus, I like how Professor Rand gives positive feedback and not just negative feedback. All this feedback has improved my writing and has made me understand that revisions are necessary for great papers. I am definitely proud of my Conflict Narrative essay. This paper allowed me to tell a story and there was freedom to be creative. I enjoy my sarcastic humor, so I dumped plenty of it into this narrative. Due to the fact that I could be creative and funny, it made this paper fun to write, instead of the usual painful process. Also, I am proud of my blog post about ethos for the same reason. I was able to be humorous in telling a story about my past to convey a meaning. Whenever writing comes easy to me, I am automatically proud of it. My end goal for this class is to show that I can write many papers in a variety of styles. For example, I want to write comical stories and professional business reports.

EYE ON THE FUTURE
The Wolf of Wall Street:

I want to become an investment banker on Wall Street. Finance and stocks interest me, so there is no better place for me to be than Wall Street. I like a challenge, so trying to make it in a cut-throat environment like Wall Street fits my desires.

Motto

My goals/interests are business, traveling, and adrenaline-rushing excitement. The thought of analyizing markets and handling money stimulates my brain. Plus, experiencing new places and going on adventures are the only solutions to cure my creative/driven mind. So when I grow up, I want to go skydiving in Switzerland while updating my investment portfolio mid-jump. This would make me one happy individual.
